Health Care Reform

April 14, 2010.2010.http://www.answers.com/topic/health-care-reform.

President Obama's victory on the new Health Care Bill could provide a modest boost to the US job market this year. But the legislation also means tax hikes, mainly on the highest-income Americans. This Bill will offer tax credits to small businesses that provide health insurance. But households with income over $250,000 will see a hike in their Medicare Payroll tax. But the good thing is that mainly people who were denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions will be able to access health care.

Something i learned from reading articles on the Health Care Reform Bill is that it will effect people in some good ways and in some bad. The good things is that people who could not afford health insurance or were denied it can get it. The downside is that taxes will rise greatly. For some people up to 50% increase.

In my opinion of the Health Care Reform Bill, I think that it is a good idea. Because people now will be under coverage in case of an emergency, they will be able to take care of it. But there are some downsides to on it like i said above about the tax on small business paying for the employers health care. Its good and bad in my opinion.

You can apply this information to your every day life because its all about your health, and money and Obamas plan that the Bill will gain more rules or ideas as the years go on.

Food Allergies

February 22, 2010. 2010. Medicine net.Nemours.

Food Allergies probably will effect someone at some point in their life. Mostly people have reactions to milk, eggs, peanuts, soy, wheat, tree nuts, fish, shellfish. Luckily some people will or can out grow their food allergies. When you do have a food allergy to something your immune system tries to protect you from it.Which makes the antibodies come in to help. You can easily see when you are having a reaction to something. Either it be skin problems:itchy, red, bumpy or cramps, vomiting, asthma, coughing ans the most severe is death. But luckily doctors can proscribe medicine to help you if you do get a reaction to a certain food.

From researching this topic I learned that people in the U.S try as hard as they can to try to make packaged food products ingredients known on the labels. Also if you do go to a restaurant and your not sure what could be in the food that you would like it is required for the waiter/waitress to tell you all that is in it. So that is very helpful if you are one of the "lucky" ones with food allergies.

In my opinion I am thankful that their are treatments for food allergies. Whether it be proscriptions or shots or just time. But also that the companies but whats in products on the labels to help prevent the symptoms.

Since I have so many food allergies i get shots for them every week. I can already tell a huge difference in how i act with food products. Like peanuts my throat would get itchy but since i researched and found this information helpful i decided to get the shots in which they recommend. But I can still apply checking on the food labels and asking people what is in products to help me out. :)

Asthma!! :P

February 11, 2010. Asthma quick facts.

Asthma is a severe and chronic disease that affects approximately 300 million people worldwide and more than 16 million adults and nearly 7 million children in the United States. In 2005, there where nearly 1.8 million emergency department visits for asthma. Asthma can be caused by pollen, molds, dust, etc... There is no cure for asthma at this time but the disease can be controlled in most patients with medical care. The condition should be taken seriously, since uncontrolled asthma may result in emergency hospitalization and possible death.

From researching this topic i learned that asthma can go away during teenage years but can come back in your twenties to forties. I also learned that alot of people have asthma. Also that little things can trigger it off either from mold, dust, pollen and more but even more so is allergies. But asthma can be very severe if people don't take care of it right away.

In my opinion I wish there was a way to get rid of it besides medication. But there's nothing else you can really do besides that and exercising and trying to avoid what triggers it off. But at least its not contagious. :)

Since i have asthma i think this information is helpful in someways. I take medication to help it when i get attacks. But its still really annoying. But i can apply these tools to help me cope with it by avoiding certain stuff, and taking my medication regularly and by seeing my doctor when i need to, like this article has said.
